Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Become familiar with NRC Education strategy, tools and manuals
  3. Monitor and report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC standards.
  4. Work with the national implementing partners and targeted communities in the planning and management of the activities.
  5. Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities.
  6. Report all protection related concerns.
  7. Carry out data collection as required.
  8. Prepare and file relevant documents as required by line manager.
  9. Work in close cooperation with Partner organization staff
  10. Abide by all standard NRC security protocols when circulating in the field and encourage team members to do the same.

Qualifications

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Experience from working with education projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts,
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in Portuguese
  • Basic knowledge of English
  • Fluency in local languages (emakhuwa and Kimwani)
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Have Degree in Social Science, Anthropology or other relevant areas.
  • Relevant experience necessary.
  • Training skills

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop and roll out in-depth education needs assessment
  • Support the identification and selection of target locations and participants, including (but not limited to): village assessments, mobilization of community leaders, conduct interviews and consultation with the targeted population, etc. jointly with local partners if necessary
  • Prepare and conduct Life Skills education activities, which includes Psycho-social Support, for conflict-affected children and youth whose education is at risk
  • Conduct catch-up classes and refresher courses based on identified needs as per in-depth needs assessment findings jointly with local partners.
  • Conduct AEP classes and refresher courses based on identified needs as per in-depth needs assessment findings jointly with local partners.
  • When possible, facilitate the transition of out of school students and drop-out students back to education pathways, by dealing with local education authorities when necessary.
  • Support other teams and partners with project activities including: Cash/voucher and NFI distributions/ teacher training/ awareness raising campaigns material and distribution.
  • Identifying and referring vulnerable cases/training CBOs/rapid emergency assessments.
  • Support the implementation of the Education Improvement Plan (ABC-Education), engage with community groups and supervise the community based workers performance
  • Organize and conduct capacity building of education facilitators, community-based workers and community group members.
  • Support the collection of data for MEL of project activities.
  • Provide written reports of every activity and/or training conducted
  • Record and maintain project specific field documents according to donor and NRC specifications.
  • Contribute to the mobilization of communities to participate in the Education planned activities.
  • Support the identification and engagement of CBOs.
  • Provide guidance and day by day assistance to the national implementing partner and monitor progress of activities (if necessary).
