ROLE PURPOSE

This position is pivotal in advancing the mission and country strategy of Plan International Liberia by enhancing the skills, tools, and capacities of the organization’s offices and personnel engaged in the implementation of the education program. It operates in concert with the three other programs and cross-cutting initiatives, while also facilitating the monitoring of progress toward the objectives of the Education Program. The role is essential for providing leadership in the execution of the program within the country, ensuring compliance with the educational standards established in Plan International’s education strategy and adherence to national policies.

The Education Advisor is tasked with managing the strategic direction of the education program, ensuring its alignment with national policies and strategies. This responsibility necessitates close collaboration with the PIIA managers, unit heads, project managers, and partners at all levels.

Dimensions of the Role

• The individual supervises and coordinates activities within the field of education, serving as a liaison between Plan and the Ministry of Education, as well as with tertiary institutions and stakeholders. Responsibilities include providing technical support for the implementation of the education program at the national level in collaboration with the PIIA teams and relevant partners.

• Additionally, this role entails overseeing program implementation, ensuring program compliance, and managing information systems and processes. The individual fosters partnerships and networking with various stakeholders at the PIIA level, including government agencies, civil society organizations, local non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

• Capacity building on the program's key interventions is a critical function, encompassing staff and partner development. The role also involves active participation in resource mobilization efforts at both local and international levels. Participation in meetings of the Extended Country Management Team (ECLT) is required, along with close collaboration with advisors from other national areas and programs. Furthermore, the individual represents PIL at national and PIIA-level meetings.
