This United Nations specialist Volunteer assignment is intended to contribute to results envisioned under the PROSPECTS Partnership Programme, particularly to help advance young people’s engagement and meaningful participation in the PROSPECTS programme by partnering with young leaders, putting young people at the front and center, and integrating their engagement in our interventions and outputs. The UNV will support the establishment and roll-out of projects to support adolescent and youth engagement, participation, and empowerment as well as the development of skills.

Under the direct supervision of Education Specialist (Semera Field office), the National UN Specialist Volunteer will: - Initiate and maintain partnerships with youth-led organizations, and those targeting adolescents and young people in Afar with particular focus on organizations working on climate change, education, entrepreneurship, skills development, sport, and mental health. - Provide support to UNICEF in conducting consultations with adolescents and young people on different programmatic issues and in different areas related to their lives, through different instruments (face-to-face and online). - Contribute to the development of results-based work planning through data collection, analysis and reporting of education related information for humanitarian and development planning. - Follow-up programme implementation, fund utilization, regular and emergency data management, monitoring and supervision of education programme for effective delivery of results. - Work closely and collaboratively with internal colleagues and partners to collect, analyze, and share information on school status, inclusive education, non-formal education, ALPs, and life skills. - Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual sectoral reviews with government and other counterparts and prepare minutes/reports on results for follow up action by higher management and other stakeholders. - Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources (financial, supply, and other assets), verify compliance with approved allocation, organizational rules, regulations/procedures and donor commitments, standards of accountability and integrity. - Contribute on drafting regular/mandated education program/project reports for management, donors, and partners to keep them informed of program progress. - Undertake field visits, surveys, seasonal assessment and share information with stakeholders to assess progress and refer to relevant officials for resolution. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks, and potential problems for timely action to achieve results. - Contribute to identifying, capturing, producing quarterly education newsletter, and sharing lessons learned for knowledge development and capacity development of stakeholders. - Participate on emergency and regular education coordination meetings with and/or in the absence of Education programme Specialist and takes minutes and share with field office Education Programme Specialist. - Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the Chief of Field Office, Education Specialist or supervisor.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
