We are looking for an internal national Education Project Manager to join our team in Kandahar, Afghanistan

What you will do:-

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Set-up, implements, coordinates, and expands the Education project.
  • Ensure that NRC anti-corruption guidelines lines are enforced
  • Direct management responsibility on budget and activities implementation related to ECE and EiE.
  • Coordinate with Logistic department procurement and delivery of materials.
  • Directly supervise and build the capacity of the national staff in the Education projects
  • Liaise with the Department of Education, Department of Labor and Social Affairs, Department of Economy and other relevant authorities and stakeholders at the district and provincial level
  • Represent NRC in UN and Government forums related to Education
  • Liaise with UN and other NGOS working in the area.
  • Ensures correct implementation of NRC security policy in the office by Education team members
  • Identify and develop project training and teaching materials for ECE and EiE
  • Identify and build the capacity of local partners for implementation of the project
  • Advocate for the rights of project beneficiaries and displaced people in general and particularly the right to education
  • Prepare donor report, proposals and budgets in collaboration with the Education Specialist and Area Manager as needed.
  • Prepare regular reports on the project development and achievements.
  • Coordinate closely with other CC-PMs and facilitate integrated programming
  • Implement efficient monitoring and evaluation systems - monitor and ensure quality control of the entire project, travel regularly to project sites to ensure that all education activities are conducted in accordance with NRC policy, norms and standards.
  • Other task as assigned by Area Manager or Education CC Specialist

What you will bring:-

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical CC Education expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • University degree/ Certification/ Diploma within Education / Management/ Development. Master is an asset
  • Experience in Education in Emergencies is an advantage
  • Strong management skills, including personnel and financial management
  • Experience in capacity building and training of staff
  • Experience of proposal and report writing
  • Experience in logistics and administrative management
  • Experience of coordination and advocacy work
  • Political and cultural awareness and experience of working where insecurity is an issue
  • Strong analytical thinking skills (qualitative and qualitative)
  • Advanced computer skills
