**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Ukraine Job Family: Education Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 5 Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 10-Jan-2024 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- The Education Officer will be stationed in **Kyiv, Ukraine**, closely working, under the overall supervision of the Liaison Officer, with the Senior Education Coordinator and HQ Ed Team in the Ukraine Education response, supporting the ED programme activities and project implementation. For this purpose, they will execute the following duties: - Contribute to the analysis and design of education programs by researching and reporting on developing trends for informed program development and management. - Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing and administering a variety of programme transactions, preparing materials and documentations. - Suggest solutions on routine programme implementation and alert supervisor for higher-level intervention and/or decisions. - Prepare draft inputs for programme/donor reporting, and talking points and briefings for meetings and other occasions. - Participate in the relevant meetings with the Ministry of Education and Science and other key stakeholders as well as relevant technical groups. - Contribute to identifying, capturing, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned for knowledge development and capacity development of stakeholders. - Support with informal translation and interpretation from Ukrainian to English and vice versa. - Develop and maintain project databases and assist with the dissemination of key information with UNESCO’s partners. - Undertake other tasks as deemed relevant by the direct supervisor and/or UNESCO Education management. EXPECTED RESULTS AND DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT ----------------------------------------------- *Expected results:* - Education program design and implementation is enhanced. - Education program administration is efficient. - Reporting is accurate, reflecting program progress and achievements, bottlenecks and proposed areas of improvement - Stakeholders are engaged, actively contribute to the education programme design and implementation - Communication support is effective through high quality translation and interpretation - Education Programme database management and information dissemination systems are established and functional. - Tasks deemed relevant by the direct supervisor and/or UNESCO Education management undertaken. *Contract duration:* 12 months (with the possibility of extension subject to performance and resource availability) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- *Academic qualifications* - Completed university in the area of education, psychology or other social sciences discipline. *Professional experience* - A minimum of four years of work experience in supporting implementation of education-related programmes, preferably with international/multilateral organization(s) present in Kyiv. *Skills and competencies* - Familiarity with UN/UNESCO’s mandate and programme in Ukraine - Knowledge of national education priorities and the UN system's work in Ukraine - Ability to manage information objectively, accurately, and confidentially. - Flexibility and adaptability to work schedules and priorities according to workload, emergencies, and deadlines. - Proven ability to design, work and execute tasks independently with thoroughness, care, and method. - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and in a multicultural environment. - Very good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Intranet, Internet, etc.). *Languages* - Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and Ukrainian **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- - Knowledge of other international/regional mechanisms and networks related to Ukraine’s education response. - Excellent understanding of the educational ecosystem of Ukraine, at the central, regional and local levels including the elements of educational reform (‘’Нова українська школа’’). - Relevant professional experience in UN System or at the international level. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
