Overview

Lead and develop educational programs in Syria.

You have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or any other relevant field of study.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Experience with education programme development.
  • Technical expertise in Education as well as experience in advocacy work.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, knowledge of the context in Syria and/or neighbouring countries is highly preferable.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Arabic language is desirable.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Programme Development Manager (Education) is to be responsible for the strategy, design, development, and support to the implementation of Education programme/projects in Syria.

What you will do:

  • Develop/update Education strategy, technical SOPs / guidelines and Macro LFAs
  • Responsible for the development and management of funding proposals, project budgets and donor reports
  • Provide technical support & direction to the Area Office project staff and ensure high technical quality of project/s in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums/cluster/working groups
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Work to further develop child and youth education projects in Syria to ensure the programme design is relevant to the context, in line with NRC’s strategic objectives for Syria, and can be funded by Education donors for Syria.
  • Work to promote the integration of Education projects with other CCs in programme design and implementation.
  • Work with Education Stakeholders and clusters to actively identify donors and funding streams to approach for support to NRC’s education programme in Syria.
  • Support the Head of Programme with external representation with donors and other stakeholders for Education in Syria.
  • Ensure timely and quality implementation of outcome monitoring exercises in coordination with the M&E team and project staff, together with data analysis.
  • Ensure that new programmatic approaches and strategic direction are cascaded and implemented at field level (e.g. Safe and Inclusive Programming, data collection and evidence based programming).
  • Build capacity of education teams to operationalize quality, timely and comprehensive education programming.

Additional Information:

Duty Station: Amman, Jordan

Travel: 20% (internationally)

Grade 9 in NRC's grading structure

Reporting line: Head of Programme

Duration of contract: 12 months contract with possibility of extension based on performance, funding, and the need for the position
