This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

This UN Volunteer is part of UNICEF Education Section in Beirut; and will be supporting the Multiple Flexible Pathway Unit.

The main focus and scope of work will be for the school bridging program that will be covering the 8 governorates. The UN Volunteer will be requested to support in the scale-up phase of the school bridging program and following up on the on-ground implementation of the program while linking up with different sections and focal points to ensure the needs are covered.

Under the direct supervision of The Education Specialist, the National UN Youth Volunteer will be supporting with the below:

  1. Knowledge Management for Programmes • Contribute to country programmes by supporting knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in the Programme Knowledge Network system of "lessons learned" and other corporate-level databases. • Participate in information exchange with partners when necessary. • Continuous Mapping and update for Out Of School Children data and private school readiness to host the School Bridging Program across the different governorates.

  2. Programme Development and Follow-up • Support in documenting and capturing the main findings of the School Bridging Program the lessons learned challenges and possible ways forward from the implementation in the different governorates. • Support in follow-up on the operational component of the School Bridging program (ensuring needed supplies present at school level. • Follow up and ensure partners are reporting using the proper tools and meet set deadlines. • Link with other sections to ensure complementary package is implemented at the level of every school. • Follow up with communications section to ensure development of all needed communication material for the program. • Follow up on role of community liaison and youth volunteers at school level capture the successful modules and work on standardizing approach among different schools. • Follow up on Referrals and ensure partners reporting through the proper channels.

  3. Programme Monitoring and Evaluations • Undertake field visits to monitor and assess programme implementation and decides on required corrective action. • Undertake face to face or remote programmatic visits depending on COVID-19 situation in Lebanon to ensure programme implementation and advise on possible adaptable approaches to be used with consultation with the Education Officer. • Collaborate with partners to carry out a rigorous and transparent approach to evaluation. • Participate in the programme evaluation exercises in consultation with the Education Programme Specialist and others to improve efficiency and quality of programme delivery. • Follow up on internal referrals and inform different partners and stakeholders of relevant Education pathways.

  4. Partnership, Coordination and Collaboration • Facilitate partnership and collaboration with internal and external counterparts in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate development data and information, exchange information on programme/project status and implementation and movement/distribution of supplies. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
