**OVERVIEW** Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Almaty Job Family: Education Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 3 Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 19-OCT-2020 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism ***(Only candidates who are entitled to work in Kazakhstan may apply to this position)*** **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** Within the framework of implementation of regular and extra-budgetary programme activities of the Education unit of UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, under the overall supervision of the Director of UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, and direct supervision of the Education Programme Specialist, the incumbent shall perform the following functions and assignments: 1\. Contribute to the implementation of Programme activities: - Contribute to the design, plan, development, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the education programmes, projects and activities, ensuring the timely and coherent implementation - Provide logistical and administrative support, in coordination with programme staff of the Education Unit, to the successful implementation of programmes, projects and activities, including consultations, meetings, network and partnership initiatives, events and missions - Assist in the facilitation of close working relationships and exchanges with the National Commissions for UNESCO, education ministries/authorities and their relevant departments, national institutes, education stakeholders and networks in the Central Asian countries - Contribute to the coordination of narrative and financial reporting on UNESCO’s programme in the region to the Education Sector in the Headquarters, the UN Country Teams, donors and other external development partners and help tracking and reporting on programme implementation using relevant tools, including SISTER in coordination with programme staff of the Education Unit - Support ATA programme staff, as needed, in communicating and managing consultants and service providers - Participate in joint collaboration with other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, development partners and stakeholders, by helping to identify, concretize, coordinate and carry out joint UN education programming Long Description 2\. Research, Knowledge Management and Public Information - Contribute to the conduct of situational analysis and research, and compilation of data as well as assist by drafting concept notes, publications, presentations, speeches, progress reports and other education programme and project documents; - Contribute to public information and outreach tasks by drafting website articles and social media posts; - Upload relevant programme and project documents onto designated platforms and/or shared drives to ensure good maintenance of the institutional memory of UNESCO Almaty Office. Contribute to Programme administration: - Assist with administrative and financial matters such as drafting budgets, preparing contracts and travel arrangements as needed; - Draft financial-administrative documentation; initiate administrative procedures and ensure follow-up; review requests for payments against contractual obligations, and provide information on payment status and remaining obligations to supervisor; - Assist with drafting and preparation of working documents, terms of reference, letters, memos and administrative documents; - Provide translation and interpretation of working documents as needed; - Liaise with National Commissions for UNESCO, national partners and Headquarters on administrative and finance matters, as requested. Partnership and Resource Mobilization - Assist in building partnerships with stakeholders, in particular with national stakeholders, the private sector, civil society, non-governmental organizations and multilateral funding organizations - Analyze and compile data for potential partnership opportunities and provide input to concept notes and proposals to mobilize resources for projects - Contribute to maintaining relations with UNESCO's international and national partners: draft correspondence, answer queries. Liaise with other UNESCO Centers, Institutes, Field Offices and HQ services as needed for the implementation of the programme 5\.
