You have:

  • Master’s Degree in Education with 5 years International Non Governmental Organization work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with 7 years’ work experience in similar position
  • Proven ability in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating child protection programmes
  • Ability to write proposals and or lead a team in the acquisition of grants
  • Excellent facilitation skills and strong detail orientation and negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes etc.
  • Good understanding of Children’s right to protection and participation
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to work with all religious groups

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Programme Management and Reporting

  • Provide leadership in the development, review and Implementation of the Education Technical program
  • Responsible for setting technical standards to be adhered to by all implementing staff and partners.
  • In collaboration with the PME Team, review and approve all the technical reports prepared from the field
  • In collaboration with the Area Programme manager, ensure the Consolidation of annual/semi-annual National Report for the Education Technical Program.
  • In collaboration with the PME Manager, develop practical tools for monitoring and evaluation of the technical program.
  • Work with the field teams, the PM&E Manager and other Technical Programme Managers to compile quality annual progress report and the Child Wellbeing report for review and approval by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Support the DME staff to set up a monitoring system in which all Education Target and indicators are integrated into the National Office DME framework

Enhanced National Office Capacity

  • Contribute to the identification of Education programming capacity gaps of staff and partners at all levels and build and/or recommend sources for capacity enhancement.
  • Forge strong partnership with the sponsorship department in the realization of the sponsorship essentials of child participation and community led care and protection
  • Establish mechanisms for influencing Government prioritization of the appropriate SDGs related to Education
  • In close collaboration with the P&C ensure the right Programme staff are recruited and provided with the support, mentoring, coaching and capacity building to implement the Education Technical Programme

Program Development and Grants Acquisition

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Education technical program is adequately funded
  • Responsible for working with the Area Program Managers to determine the funding deficit and needs of the various locations.
  • Work with the Resource Acquisition and Management Manager to establish donor linkages, develop and market fundraising products (concept notes, Proposals, capacity statements, etc.) and acquire extra (Non-Sponsorship) financial support for the Technical Program.
  • Collaborate with the RAM team to grow grants for Education programming within World Vision Sierra Leone
  • Participate in proposal development process for pre- proposal, Proposal development and post-submission

Networking and coordination

  • Support the Partnering coordinator to build and regularly update a stakeholder mapping tool for the purpose of effective external engagement
  • In collaboration with the partnering coordinator, select organizations for the purposes of external engagement for policy influencing, campaigning, resource acquisition and other relationships of mutual benefit at all levels.
  • Participate in education networks/coalitions/ technical working groups at all levels.

Accountability and Learning

  • In collaboration with the Knowledge Management and Systems Manager Generate knowledge management products including evidence and impact of child-led advocacy and child led community change projects related to health programming
  • Support PME and AP Managers to monitor and evaluate the education Technical Programme and to generate the needed evidence for policy engagement
  • Support the DME staff to set up a monitoring system in which all Education Target and indicators are integrated into the National Office DME framework
  • Support the integration of Child Protection into the Education Technical Programmes
  • Support the annual community review and planning meeting
  • Support the set-up of a community feedback mechanism and ensure that clear education programming information is provided in accessible forms to all stakeholders and Support the collation and analysis of feedback and complaints that relate to the Health and Nutrition technical Program

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Education with 5 years International Non Governmental Organization work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with 7 years’ work experience in similar position
  • Core capabilities:

  • Understanding of WV’s Child Well-Being Outcomes, child-focused programming, Development Programme
  • Approach, and special priority for most vulnerable children.
  • Proven ability in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating child protection programmes.
  • Ability to develop and lead a capacity building and training strategy for Health programming (all staff
  • project staff).
  • Proven experience in managing Education programme
  • Project management and design experience, as well as project implementation and monitoring & evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, demonstrated leadership and good management ability
  • Experience in working with various major donors and government donor agencies
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Lotus notes etc
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Strong detail orientation and negotiation skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of Children’s right to protection and participation

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Field-based with frequent travel around Communities
  • Travel: 40% Domestic travel is required. 10% international trave
