  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Officer position is to ensure the quality of day-to-day implementation of the Education Projects covering southern oblasts with a focus on Mykolaiv.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures
  2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
  3. Implement delegated Education and Youth project portfolio according to the plan of action
  4. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  5. Ensure proper filing of documents
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
  7. Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents
  8. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  9. Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders
  10. Promote the rights of beneficiaries in line with the advocacy strategy

Specific responsibilities

  1. Plan and conduct assessments in schools and with communities
  2. Work closely with the Education team in South Area Office and other Area Offices to ensure education activities are being planned and implemented based on the NRC Ukraine Education Strategy
  3. Provide technical input and support to the team in relation to the assigned program
  4. Prepare procurement documents and collaborate with procurement teams to deliver required assistance to Education CC participants
  5. Ensure all training activities related to but not limited to teachers, parents, youth, master trainers, and counselors take place in line with program objectives
  6. Support and mentor teaching and non-teaching staff as well as youth workers in collaboration with the education team.
  7. Follow the implementation of the training package skills, participate in training planning (when needed), and agree/oversee follow-up system and procedures with school, learning spaces, and youth center management to ensure NRC activities are in line with national work plans and priorities
  8. If assigned, participate in NRC/local authorities meetings (central level/Directorate/Department), and work closely with departments of youth and education on planning and implementation.
  9. Minimum 70% of the time participating in project-related field activities
  10. Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) focal responsibility in consolidating data collection (Kobo, google, etc.), assisting M&E in the collection/analysis of data
  11. Contribute to development, management, and monitoring of delegated project budget and procurement plan and consequent raising of purchase requisitions according to approved activity plan and budget in collaboration with the education coordinator
  12. Report weekly to Education Coordinator to provide debriefing on the progress of implementation and submit needed supporting documents
  13. Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or/and other relevant area
  • Experience from working within technical expertise areas in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Education/youth/teacher training expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English and Russian or/and Ukrainian, both written and verbal

Context/specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or other related areas
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of Education in emergencies/psycho-education and/or youth
  • Experience in preparing/developing/delivering training materials/packages
  • Relevant work experience
  • Experience of and commitment to participatory approaches to aid and development
  • Good understanding of Monitoring and evaluation systems
