How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Education Sector Manager, the Education Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process within the Sector Programme from development planning to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

The Education Officer will also be responsible for the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Multi Year Response Programme management for the Sector, she/he is responsible for acting as the focal point between the grantees, implementing partners and education sector to ensure the programme is a well-coordinated response aligning with the overall Joint Response Plan. The ECW Project Coordinator is expected to act as a focal point between the partners implementing the programme, the responsible grantees and sector coordination. Whilst the principal focus of the ECW Project Coordinator will be to ensure effective coordination and implementation of the ECW-financed programme through grantees, she/he will also be expected to assist the Education Sector Coordinator and Co-Coordinator to maintain an oversight of the Multi Year Response Programme as a whole.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in Education is required.
  • Experience working in an emergency context, and particularly Education in Emergencies (EiE) is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
