Overview

Provide technical and operational support for education programs in Yemen.

You have:

• A university degree in education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field is required.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
• Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
• Demonstrates self awareness and ethical awareness in professional settings.
• Works collaboratively with others and builds partnerships.
• Innovates and embraces change in educational programs.
• Thinks and acts strategically to develop and implement educational initiatives.
• Drives to achieve impactful results in education programs.

Contract

This is a NO-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as National Professional Officers. It is normally only for nationals. It's a staff contract. More about NO-2 contracts.

In the 1970s UNICEF established presence in Yemen to respond to the urgent needs of children in the poorest country in the Middle East. In 1991, Yemen ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it was enacted immediately. Since then, the country has been making steady progress for children until it plunged into a brutal conflict in 2015 but even before that, Yemen needed large amounts of humanitarian assistance.

In collaboration with local authorities, non-governmental organizations and community partners, UNICEF is working in all the governorates in Yemen to respond to the needs of children throughout the country with a continuum of services to help children survive and grow to their full potential through the following programmes: Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Basic Education, and Child protection.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Education Manager at the respective field office (Sana'a or Aden), the Education Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results, preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting. You will make a difference by ensuring:

1. Support to programme development and planning
2. Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
3. Technical and operational support to programme implementation
4. Networking and partnership building
5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.

Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required. Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
