Consultancy Title: Education information management and data visualization consultancy 2022

Duration: 11.5 months (250 days Full Time)

BACKGROUND

With the move to a seamless global technical team in education coalescing around nine thematic priorities, there is increased demand for tools that allow us to come together to share and consume knowledge through visually-focused, interactive and easy-to-use data management tools. This includes tools such as interactive dashboards and maps showcasing key knowledge management products.

At the same time, as knowledge management continues to take root in UNICEF, there is a growing demand to move away from voluminous written documentation to succinct infographics and data visualizations. This consultancy will also support this additional burgeoning workstream as education colleagues increase production of effective knowledge management pieces.

Terms of Reference / Deliverables

In close collaboration and working with the Education Knowledge Manager, the incumbent’s responsibilities are as follows:

  • Develop nine new interactive PowerBI dashboards linked to education priorities.
  • 9 dashboards finalised and presented to relevant technical leads
  • Update four existing PowerBI education dashboards.
  • 4 dashboards on digital learning, girls’ education, education donors and knowledge management updated
  • Develop and deliver training to enable technical leads to take over day-to-day management of their respective dashboard.
  • Training of 1-2 hours on day-to-day management for the technical leads of each dashboard delivered. This includes the development of associated reference materials, such as a PPT and recording of the training session(s).
  • Produce 22 infographics, covering all nine education priorities.
  • Of the 22 education-related infographics to be produced, 9 will be linked to education knowledge-sharing events.

Qualifications

(1) Education

  • University degree in (Masters or higher) Information technology, data visualization or related field.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.

2) Work experience

  • 5 years of relevant work experience at the national and international level in fields related to information management, knowledge management, communication, data visualization, or monitoring, or other relevant area. Dedicated experience in education highly desirable.
  • Previous work experience with a UN agency and international development a requirement.

3) Competencies / Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver on strict timelines.
  • Advanced skills in PowerBI, Tableau, SharePoint and Microsoft Office, including Excel

Requirements:

  • Completed profile in UNICEF's e-Recruitment system and provide Personal History Form (P11) Upload copy of academic credentials
  • Financial proposal that will include:

    • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
    • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.

  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
