Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

Established in 2016, the UNDP Funding Windows are thematic, flexible, non-core pooled funding mechanisms that enable partners to contribute strategically to implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2025 Funding Windows Annual Report is an important accountability and communications product that presents the results achieved through these resources during the previous year. It highlights evidence of change, UNDP’s added value, and the contribution of Funding Windows to advancing integrated development solutions, innovation, partnerships, and support to countries, including in fragile and crisis contexts.

The report is a key tool for engaging donor partners and other stakeholders, and will be disseminated widely through digital channels, including a PDF report and an accompanying microsite. The publication includes narrative and financial sections, stories of change, thematic results, and forward-looking analysis in the context of the new UNDP Strategic Plan. Within this context, the Online Volunteer’s support will help ensure that the report and related web content are accurate, coherent, reader-friendly, and aligned with UNDP’s editorial and communications standards.

We are looking for one Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of the Funding Windows Manager and in close collaboration with the Funding Windows Results and Reporting Specialist and relevant communications colleagues, will support the finalization of the 2025 UNDP Funding Windows Annual Report by providing editorial and proofreading support for content prepared for publication in both PDF and online formats. The PDF report is expected to be approximately 30 designed pages. In particular, the Online Volunteer will review and edit draft narrative content for clarity, structure, logical flow, consistency and readability; proofread text for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and adherence to the latest UNDP editorial style and communications standards; identify overlaps, inconsistencies, and areas where arguments and transitions can be strengthened; and provide light copy-editing support for selected microsite write-ups that complement the annual report. The editor is expected to proofread the Word version of the PDF report as well as the microsite write-ups. Subsequently, the editor will proofread the final designed PDF report for any remaining typos and copy-paste errors.

The Online Volunteer will work on content intended for a broad external audience, including donor partners, stakeholders and the wider public. This assignment will contribute to improving the quality and accessibility of a flagship corporate publication that showcases results achieved through UNDP Funding Windows across thematic areas including poverty and inequality, nature, climate and energy, governance, peacebuilding, crisis and resilience, and gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Online Volunteer will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to UNDP results reporting, corporate communications standards, and the preparation of high-visibility knowledge products.

Candidates should have demonstrated experience in editing, proofreading, or copy-editing high-quality reports, publications, or other formal written materials in English. Excellent command of written English is required, including strong grammar, spelling, punctuation, and stylistic editing skills. Experience working with corporate, development, policy, or results-based reporting content is highly desirable.

Applicants should be able to review substantial volumes of text, synthesize feedback clearly, and strengthen narrative flow while preserving technical accuracy and the author’s intended meaning. Familiarity with UN editorial standards, especially the UNDP Editorial Style Manual and corporate communications practices, would be an asset. The assignment also requires strong attention to detail, reliability in meeting deadlines, responsiveness to feedback, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multicultural team environment.
