Work Location The job is remote based, but it requires adherence to New York office hours

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Chief of the GLRS, in close collaboration with the GLRS, CERF, CBPF teams, as well as thematic focal points, the responsibilities of the communications officer/editor will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and/or editing thematic guidance notes, and CERF/CBPF information products, including infographics

  • Supporting with the drafting and editing of other documents and briefings, including the CERF Advisory Group meeting, the annual CERF High-Level Pledging Event, and the bi-annual Pooled Fund Working Group meeting.

  • Supporting GLRS with quality control during various rounds of edits.

  • Ensuring that all CERF-CBPF information products and guidelines are written with consistent language and tailored appropriately to respective audiences.

  • Ensuring adherence of the information products to the OCHA style guide.

    Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public relations or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience with editorial work is required. Experience drafting humanitarian flagship publications is desired. Understanding of humanitarian funding mechanisms and their associated reports is desired

    Languages English and French are working languages in the United Nations. For this job opening, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
