This assignment supports an environmental study on "Mapping Mangrove Habitat Change Through Remote Sensing and Participatory Mapping in Papua New Guinea", specifically in the Kamiali Wildlife Management Area, Papua New Guinea led by the Morobe Development Foundation in partnership with local communities.

The study aims to assess environmental changes and impacts to inform conservation programs and sustainable development planning, which is part of the MDF mission and objectives in carrying out community development projects in PNG to address environmental and climate change issues and in turn will also support in promoting SDGs challenges in the same area.

To that end, we are seeking support from Online Volunteers through these online collaboration opportunities. Online Volunteers will be properly acknowledged in the final study depending on their contribution and receive certificates through this platform.

We are looking for three online volunteers with expertise in GIS to collaborate on finalizing and editing an existing document titled "Mapping Mangrove Habitat Change Through Remote Sensing and Participatory Mapping in Papua New Guinea." The successful candidates, leveraging their expertise and experience, will be adept at comprehending the document, filling in any gaps, and preparing it for the final review phase.

The volunteers will be specifically involved in the following tasks: a) Conduct a literature review b) Do remote sensing mapping, analysis and provide technical advice c) Writing, editing, and proofreading

Required skills: - Writing and editing - GIS analysis - Remote sensing - Ability to communicate and work onward deadlines - English; excellent writing and communication skills - Landsat, Google Earth and a wide range of GIS applications

Desired skills: - Degree in GIS, remote sensing, environmental science, geography or related field - PhD preferred but not required - Knowledge of/experience with landslide and earthquake mapping
