The UN Common Country Analysis (CCA) is the UN system’s independent, impartial, and collective assessment (i.e., a description of a country's situation) and analysis (i.e., a description of causes and implications) of a country’s situation for its internal use in developing the Cooperation Framework. It examines progress, gaps, opportunities, and bottlenecks vis-à-vis a country’s commitment to achieving the 2030 Agenda, UN norms and standards and the principles of the UN Charter, as reflected in the Cooperation Framework Guiding Principles.

The objective is to produce a visually appealing and engaging CCA through editing the chapters and narrative sections of the CCA.

Under the supervision of the Head of RCO and Strategic Planner, the online volunteer will edit the chapters and narrative sections of the CCA to ensure:

Clarity and continuity of the ideas, thought processes and policy focus of the reports.

Clarity of structure and core themes.

Internal consistency, both analytical and stylistic.

General readability and accessibility to a broad readership (global and national).

Technical and copy-editing including proof-reading text and correcting any spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, as well as proposing relevant text to be given prominence through text boxes, layout and graphic design and proofreading of the final reports.

The tasks will be split among the two online volunteers who will work with the Communications Officer to select photos and undertake design work to include tables, indexes, map infographics and graphs etc.

An advanced university (master’s degree or equivalent) in in Literature, social Sciences, Arts, or related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Relevant professional experience in in editing and proof-reading is required.

Ability to design full reports and similar documents, and create infographics, charts, tables to be integrated into the designed version, and create a good experience blend of the core reporting narrative, story sidebars and photos.
