The Strategy, Policy, and Review Department (SPR) has two openings for contractual experts on gender and macroeconomics to work in the Inclusion and Gender Unit (IG) located in SPR’s Front Office. The IG Unit spearheads the work on the Fund’s gender strategy, coordinates inclusion/gender work across the Fund and with external partners and undertakes associated policy and analytical work. It conducts research and coordinates across departments work on inclusion, inequality and gender and their synergies with other emerging issues such as climate, fintech and fragile states. The unit’s work has a strong analytical and policy focus.

The selected candidate is expected to conduct policy-relevant research and work primarily on the development of analytical frameworks and tools for analyzing the impact of macroeconomic shocks, macroeconomic and financial policies and reforms on gender and the economy to support IMF country work and country authorities.

Qualifications

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, supplemented by a minimum of four years of relevant professional work experience, typically acquired through the completion of considerable graduate work in economics, is required. In addition, the successful candidate should have relevant professional experience in macro-critical gender policy work; excellent analytical and empirical skills and experience on both macroeconomics and gender economics; interest in policy-related work and the ability to do modeling and cross-country empirical work; and demonstrated ability to think originally and work independently. The candidate should have strong oral communication skills, ability to draft concisely and persuasively, and work well within a team.

*This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
