Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 550 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2023 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Economic Recovery Assistant to join the team in Chernihiv.

Overall purpose of the role:

• Provides administrative or technical support within sector area. • Assist the sector officer in ensuring quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of sector activities.

Sector responsibilities: Business training and SME development, business grants, life-skills training, literacy and numeracy training, vocational training, micro-credit loans, savings groups, group enterprise development and facilitation.

Geographic scope: Area (Ukraine, Chernihiv oblast). This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to base operations.

Main responsibilities:

Administrative and technical support. • Carry out basic tasks within sector area (e.g. data collection, field trips, prepare finance documents). • Carry out administrative tasks. • Follow given work plans and guidelines.

Required experience and competencies:

  • • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • • Experience in administrative tasks.
  • • Excellent IT skills.
  • • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines.
  • • English (intermediate level).
  • • Fluency in local language.

We offer:

  • Contract length: 12 months, with a 3-month probation period
  • Designation of Duty Station: Chernihiv
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriate Staff.
