You have:

  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO.
  • Field experience.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian languages.
  • Relevant university degree (e.g. political science, international development, or economics) or equivalent professional qualification.

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs working in 40 countries worldwide, is currently looking for a highly qualified Economic Recovery Assistant for Kyiv Base Office

DRC has been operating in Ukraine for more than 10 years with emergency and durable solution interventions for assisting IDPs, returnees, host communities, and conflict-affected populations. With the outbreak of the conflict in February 2022, DRC has shifted its programming to emergency response to meet the urgent needs of conflict-affected population in the country. Current DRC programming is focusing on protection activities such as protection monitoring, information dissemination, Individual protection assistance, and legal aid. DRC is also planning to add to the ongoing emergency protection response activities such as GBV prevention and response, Psychosocial support (PSS), and community-based protection. In addition to protection programming, DRC is currently implementing Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), NFI and Food distributions, Shelter & WASH interventions, Economic Recovery, Humanitarian Demining and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education.

Overall purpose of the role

Under the supervision of and together with Economic Recovery Officer, ensure the quality of the planning, implementation / coordination and follow up of all technical aspects of the activities being implemented by DRC.

Geographic scope: Base (Kyiv)

This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base level. The role contributes to the implementation and adherence to base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Main responsibilities

Programming & Operations

  • Under the supervision of and together with Economic Recovery Officer ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports for donors
  • Carry out monitoring and evaluation exercises

Coordination and representation

  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts / colleagues on grant component implementation issues
  • Represent DRC during the events and working meetings
  • Ensure integration with other DRC sectors

Project development

  • Co-implement project plans and budgets for funding
  • Co-develop and use projects tools
  • Project implementation and reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate projects

Logistics/Finance

  • Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up
  • Provide assistance in planning and coordinating logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas
  • Provide assistance in procurements and ensure their execution

Required experience and competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO

  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian languages

Required education

Relevant university degree (e.g. political science, international development, or economics) or equivalent professional qualification
