Economic Empowerment Officer (f/m/d)

Bonn | as soon as possible

full-time (40 hours/week) | limited contract until 31 December 2023 (extension is desired)

About Us

Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. In 2016, IRC Germany was founded and is involved in the areas of education, livelihoods, and safety and empowerment throughout Germany.

The program area of economic empowerment / livelihoods covers topics ranging from career orientation and labor market integration to the promotion of self-employment and business start-ups to the teaching of skills relevant to everyday life and work (such as digital skills). To strengthen our program area of economic empowerment and implement various interventions for the sustainable integration of Ukrainians and third-country nationals that are seeking refuge in Germany into the labor market, we are looking for an Economic Empowerment Officer in Bonn and surroundings. Activities are implemented in presence and online, and include the implementation of coaching and workshops on site.

Major Responsibilities

- You will work closely with (local) partners and organizations, such as employers, job placement agencies/jobcenters, other NGOs and alike. - You will develop a client acquisition strategy, incl. the creation of advertisement material, network building with other integration stakeholders and conducting outreach activities in person and online. - You are responsible for the development of training concepts (e.g., digital offers) and adaptation to changing needs, preparation of curricula, handouts, and other relevant material for clients. - You will organize and conduct job readiness workshops on working in Germany while also conducting one-on-one coaching sessions on working in Germany (e.g., job search, German application portfolio), as well as career path planning. - You will support the target group by referral to other actors in the field, e.g., in housing, (psycho-social) healthcare, childcare etc. - You will implement M&E activities such as registration/enrolment, service completion, feedback surveys, FGDs etc. to assess project quality and results and provide regular reporting on such measurements.

Your Profile

- You have relevant personal experience or at least 2 years of working experience in labour market integration programs (e.g. job readiness workshops, coaching, counselling). - You have experience in designing and implementing workshops for adults and methodical-didactic knowledge in adult education. - You have experience in the field of resilience promotion and trauma-sensitive work with refugees, as well as counseling experience; experience with career path planning is desirable. - You are an excellent networker, well-versed in building trusting relationships with project partners, key integration stakeholders and the private sector. - You have Ukrainian and English language skills at C1-level and German skills at B1- level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF). - You work independently and with little supervision at your project location. - You are reliable, take initiative, have good improvisation skills, and enjoy teamwork. - You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook. - You are willing to travel to IRCs offices and project sites throughout Germany (approx. 10% of working time).
