Overview

Support research processes on macroeconomic issues and policy analysis for Latin America.

You have:

• Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• University studies in Economics, Political Science or related careers is required.
• Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
• Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
• Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
• Candidates for the UN Internship Programme are required to cover the cost of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship.
• Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of English and French desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. Qualifications/special skills

-Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). -Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. -University studies in Economics, Political Science or related careers is required. -Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. -Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable. -Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable. -Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Additional Information

Purpose: Intern 1. The intern will support the team in the analysis of new challenges for Latin American development policies amid the new global context. This will involve conducting research on regional trends, reviewing policy frameworks, and preparing summaries or recommendations that contribute to strategic discussions. Intern 2: Support research processes on macroeconomic issues in the Member States covered by this office, reviewing bibliographic documentation, compiling statistical information and processing data through econometric programs.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
