The project "Economic and Financial Inclusion for people living in vulnerable conditions" (2023-2025) is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), seeks to address the double trap of economic and financial exclusion faced by the most vulnerable populations, with emphasis on women, young people, and members of indigenous communities; and at the level of productive units- to small agricultural producers.

This project main outcome is to strengthened capacities to increase the income and sustainability of the livelihoods of the most vulnerable populations (women, rural youth) and, entrepreneurs, producers and/or associations of rural producers, resulting in greater economic and financial inclusion to improve their well-being.

Project Outcome 1: Commercial models of supply markets and their businesses have increased their digital and management capabilities for greater competitiveness, inclusion, and resilience with a gender focus.

Project Outcome 2: Rural youth with strengthened capacities to access employment opportunities in tourism activity or build innovative and sustainable business models, especially in Community Rural Tourism.

Project Outcome 3: MSMEs, associations of producers and/or cooperatives in rural areas with strengthened capacities to accelerate and improve their economic recovery, dynamization and articulation to the market with an optimal focus on demand, digital transformation and value chains.

Project Outcome 4: Rural and peri-urban population with strengthened capacities to access financing alternatives that improve the growth and consolidation of their productive and commercial activities with emphasis on women and youth.

During 2023 and 2024, This Project has received economical and technical support from the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) through the e ‘SDG Partnership on Supporting MSMEs through Inclusive Digital Transformation’. The ‘SDG Partnership’ programme is USPC’s approach to connect relevant expertise from Korea with the wider UNDP network and its partners in developing countries to facilitate the implementation of development solutions in partner countries, on a topic of mutual interest – this time, it is ‘Supporting MSMEs through Inclusive Digital Transformation,’ which will provide advisory and technical support along with seed funding provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea via our office.

The UNV volunteer will be expected to support program activities related to developing digital and technological tools, engage with private sector and systematize learning in the frame of the Economic and Financial Inclusion project, and the support of USPC.

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support the programmatic management of the project.
  • Contributes to the developing of digital and technological tools of the project, gathering information and best practices, and preparing proposals to enhance this component in the different lines of the project with a specific approach on the vulnerable population that the project address.
  • Supports to the engagement of the private sector with the project.
  • Assists the Program Coordinator in the systematizations of learnings.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in the look for possibles donors for the project.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Another big lure is the city's thriving culinary culture, which includes restaurants that have won prestigious awards on the world stage. People in Lima are kind and hospitable, so it's not hard to settle in and establish new friends, making it a family-friendly destination. However, Lima's traffic and congestion can make even the simplest trips difficult.

• Vaccinations are not needed for entry into the country. To be safe, travellers should check to see whether they will be passing through any locations where malaria, dengue, or yellow fever are common.

• The average temperature in Lima is 17 degrees Celsius in August and 24 degrees Celsius in February.

• Private clinics and hospitals in Lima provide access to high-quality medical care provided by trained professionals using the latest medical technology and methods.

• According to the Security Level system's approach, Lima has a very low security level. In general, violent crime is uncommon there. While in Lima, petty thievery is the most significant safety concern.

• It is possible to make a variety of payments in Peru, including wire transfers, interbank transfers, payments via QR codes or digital wallets, and withdrawals from ATMs, which are conveniently located throughout the country.

• Peru is a country highly exposed to natural disasters, being seismic with several cases of earthquakes and tremors.
