Duties and Responsibilities

The internship opportunity at the ESCAP Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia (SRO-ENEA) located in Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea, spans a minimum duration of two months, with the possibility of extension up to six months as deemed necessary by the office. ​ This internship is UNPAID and fulltime. ​Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a designated staff member in their assigned office.​ ​​Intern responsibilities will primarily center around researching on economic affairs, in preparation for the 8th North-East Asia Multistakeholder Forum on SDGs and/or the 11th North-East Asia Development Cooperation Forum. The interns will also contribute to the planning and implementation of the follow-up activities.​ ​​Duties include a range of tasks, including but not limited to: ​Reviewing and analyzing literature and policies related to SDGs progress and Development Cooperation of the subregion; ​Providing support in drafting and preparing official documents for the events – the 8th North-East Asia Multistakeholder Forum on SDGs and/or the 11th North-East Asia Development Cooperation Forum; ​Conducting research and assisting in the implementation of activities on subregional connectivity including trade, transport and energy; ​Attending and summarizing for the meetings with the resource persons and partners; and ​Providing support during meetings.​

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
