Increase capacity for hydrogen production and trade in CIS countries
You have:
- Advanced degree in energy economics, engineering, business management.
- 15 years of experience in energy sector and sustainable development.
- Specialized in analytical work and research with a focus on hydrogen and its role in modern energy systems.
- Good understanding of energy and climate nexus, resource management, and linkages to the 2030 Agenda, clean energy technologies.
- Fluency in English and Russian.
Result of Service This contract will result in increased capacity of CIS countries to harness the potential of hydrogen production and trade in their countries and across the whole region.
Draft Report and Final report - Analysis on hydrogen potential in Eastern Europe & Central Asia. The original report can be either in English and then translated into Russian, or either way round. The final product needs to be a report in two languages: English and Russian of 40-50 pages in Word format. Performance indicators: Observance of delivery deadlines. Quality of content should meet an internationally acceptable research standard, as assessed by ECE.

Expected duration 5 months, from 01.03.2022 to 31.07.2022.
Duties and Responsibilities The responsibilities of this contract cover two phases of project implementation, as outlined below:
Phase I – Focus on identification of national potential and improvement of national capacities. Analysis conducted by the Consultant will support modelling institution to adapt and recalibrate the model and will support preparation and delivery of a series of technical capacity building workshops. Analyse national potentials to develop a hydrogen ecosystem, including the supply of energy to energy-deficient regions of the world. Refine existing data and assumptions related to sustainable hydrogen production for the energy model. Analyse hydrogen production potential across CIS countries. Conduct a subregional assessment of cost and technical performance of hydrogen production from fossil fuels, low-carbon energy, and renewable energy across beneficiary countries. Analyse priority areas for the development of national hydrogen potential.
Phase II – Focus on opportunities for export of hydrogen and identification of possible domestic hydrogen applications. Identification of possible pilot projects. Consultant will support multi-stakeholder dialogue. Analyse the opportunities for hydrogen export and possible applications in the domestic market. Propose the directions for the implementation of pilot projects for the supply of sustainable hydrogen for export.
Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced degree in energy economics, engineering, business management.
Experience: 15 years of experience in energy sector and sustainable development. Specialized in analytical work and research with a focus on hydrogen and its role in modern and carbon neutral energy system. Good understanding of energy and climate nexus, resource management and linkages to the 2030 Agenda, clean energy technologies and technology interplay to attain carbon neutrality. Experience with development of national strategies to attain Paris Agreement targets.
Language: English and Russian.
