Job Description

Through one of its scaling pathways, The IRC ECD Lebanon program is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in creating a unified ECD curriculum for nurseries (children aged 0-3 years) licensed by MoPH in Lebanon.

The ECD Curriculum Development Technical Consultant is responsible for the designing, development, and piloting of the highest quality nurseries curriculum. The ECD Technical Consultant is as well responsible for reviewing and finalizing the curriculum.

The Ahlan Simsim technical team has already identified the developmental indicators for children aged 1-3 years and has developed activities that align with these indicators.

The ECD Curriculum Development Technical Consultant will:

The Program Content:

- Finalize the intended developmental indicators by age (for children aged 1-3 years). - Review and develop activities for different developmental indicators. - Identify the intended developmental indicators for children aged 0-1 years. - Identify and create supportive practice to promote the development of children aged 0-1 years. - Identify the elements the Nurseries’ physical and social environment.

Piloting the Curriculum

- Set the piloting methodology and present it through a report to the ECD Senior Technical Quality Manager. - Pilot the curriculum across selected nurseries. - Analyze the results and present the through a report to the curriculum development committee. - Review and amend the materials based on the results of the pilot.

Initiating the training process

- Develop training content. - Train the trainers (MoPH nurseries staff) on the delivery of the content.

All material will be developed in the Arabic language, and all training sessions will be conducted in the Arabic language.

1. 1- Review and develop the Early Childhood Education (ECE) developmental indicators per age level

2. 2- Review and develop the instructional activities and supportive practices per age level covering the four developmental domains (cognitive, language, social-emotional and physical development)

3. A total of 5 activities per domain per age level

3- Develop a resource guide that covers the following topics:

- Introduction - The importance of Early Years - Child Holistic Development and Importance of Play - The Role of Educators in Early Years - The Teaching and Learning Approaches in Early Years - The Learning Environment in Early Years - ECE Curriculum Framework - ECE Developmental Indicators - ECE Instructional Activities (planning activities and lessons) - Considerations in Early Childhood Assessment - Purposes of Assessment - Assessment Instruments in ECE

4- Develop an inception report with the detailed piloting design, methodology and workplan

June 3rd, 2022

5- Pilot the Curriculum in the selected nurseries in coordination with MoPH

Finalize the piloting by July 1st, 2022

6- Present the piloting findings to the curriculum development committee

July 11, 2022

7- Review and amend the developmental indicators and activities based on the piloting results

August 1st, 2022

8- Develop a training manual covering the content that will be delivered to the trainers

August 15, 2022

9- Train the trainers on the implementation of the curriculum across the nurseries in Lebanon

August 22nd till August 31st, 2022

Payment Rate and Schedule:

Three payments upon submitting the following deliverables

- Deliverables 1-2-3: 36% of Total Payment - Deliverables 4-5-6-7: 36% of Total Payment - Deliverable 8-9: 28 % of Total Payment

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Educational Psychology, or related field. A Doctorate Degree is an asset. - 10+ years of professional experience in teaching, early childhood education, and curriculum development, and delivery of trainings. - Strong understanding of educational context and needs in Lebanon. - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Computer literate in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Autonomy and ability to work with minimal supervision. - Flexibility, commitment, work ethics, and team spirit. - Fluency in Arabic and English, French is an asset.
