This programme is an exciting opportunity for participants to get a feel for working at the Forum, bringing in fresh ideas from their studies and gaining valuable real-world experience while making an impact.

The positions we offer are best suited to recent graduates of a course of study, preferably at master’s level or higher (although not exclusively), and with at least one previous professional experience.

Purpose of the Team

As part of the Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics (CRTG), the team in Beijing manages the Forum’s overall engagement with government and public sector institutions in Greater China.

The ECP trainee will support the team with day-to-day work with mainly central government portfolios and engagement of Chinese government officials to various Forum events, including but not limited to:

  • Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2024
  • Forum’s other global events such as the Summit in Saudi Arabia
  • Domestic meetings/workshops
  • Logistics for meetings with NDRC and other government ministries
  • Support on data input, on-line research and other administrative work

Main responsibilities of the selected candidate

  • Data entry and maintenance in the Forum’s data system
  • Role mapping for Chinese public figures, i.e finding sessions that matches their priorities through research
  • Document translation (English- Chinese and vice versa)
  • Support Forum staff’s liaison work with external stakeholders
  • Logistics support to Chinese officials during Forum’s major events, such as AMNC and domestic meetings/workshops (badges, hotels, transportation, etc.)
  • Compiling documents and supporting material and drafting official request letters to respective government counterparts
  • Timely Follow-up with stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of key information
  • Policy research on both central and local government
  • Provide logistic support to high profile visits
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Full time graduate student, major is not limited
  • Experience in studying abroad or working at international organizations is a plus
  • With integrity, authenticity, frank communication style, ability to provide direct feedback
  • Basic understanding of how Chinese government functions is a must
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese with proven records
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must
  • Writing skills of professional Chinese document
  • Fast learning, multitasking, and able to work under pressure
