Unit Context

The Technology Platforms Team (ITSPL) is anchored in the Chief Technology Officer (ITSTO) division in ITS. ITS Technology Office (ITSTO) drives technology-enabled innovation and delivers the digital backbone for WBG's mission. It develops future-ready technology strategy, modernizes infrastructure, manages innovation, and fosters agility. The unit collaborates across the organization to leverage technology as a force multiplier, accelerating development impact and digital transformation globally.

ITSPL delivers secure, cloud-first IT platforms with automation, self-service, and Platform Engineering (IaC). It manages databases, integrations, & cloud ops to ensure reliable, scalable, & cost-effective alignment with enterprise standards. The primary programs that the ITSTO unit is responsible for is providing a wide range of technical infrastructure services to meet the institution's computing needs, from mid-range servers, large scale servers, and the respective system, network, and supporting software on those platforms. It provides engineering, integration, and system administration services for Server Administration, Server Security, Backup/Restore, Storage, Virtual infrastructure (on premise and in cloud) and Data Center Management.

Duties and accountabilities:

• Administer Oracle 19c/23ai RAC and non‑RAC databases on Red Hat Linux and Oracle Exadata platforms, including installation, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.

• Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery across Single Instance, RAC, and Exadata environments.

• Manage Oracle ASM storage, including disk group configuration, capacity planning, and performance optimization across RAC and Exadata systems.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database performance using Oracle Diagnostic and Tuning Packs, including Exadata-specific performance features, in coordination with infrastructure admin teams.

• Support developers and logical DBAs in resolving SQL/PL/SQL, client, and database performance issues.

• Administer and support cloud and hybrid database platforms (OCI, Azure, AWS), including provisioning, integration, and operational optimization alongside on prem Exadata environment.

• Ensure ITIL‑compliant operations, secure database management, and adherence to WBG on‑premises and cloud security standards.

Selection Criteria

• A Master's degree with 5 years of experience or a Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience in Oracle Database Administration, including installation, configuration, and operational support of Oracle 19c on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

• Demonstrated experience with cloud database services, including administration and operational support of databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and other cloud platforms.

• Proven knowledge of OCI services, including audit, monitoring, backup, restore, and cloud database operational concepts.

• Working familiarity with Oracle Exadata platforms, including exposure to performance, architecture, or database operations (desirable).

• Demonstrated exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices in enterprise IT environments.

• Strong technical documentation and reporting capabilities, including preparation of operational and design artifacts.

• Demonstrated collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills, including experience using operational and reporting tools such as OEM and Splunk.
