You have:

The ET consultant - Communications will work under the Regional Communications unit in the Communications and Outreach Department.
The Regional Communications Unit’s objectives include supporting IFC’s operations and corporate objectives, strengthening IFC’s brand, and communicating its development impact to internal and external clients to galvanize IFC’s position as the premier development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. Working with other communications units in the department, Regional Communications also promotes IFC’s thought leadership and a better understanding of the key role of private sector in development, as well as managing reputational risks around IFC’s investments and policies.
The position will be based in Vienna, Austria. The Communications Consultant will report to a Communications Officer based in Tbilisi, Georgia, and the Regional Communications Lead based in Vienna, Austria. He/she will work closely with the Country Manager for Ukraine and Moldova, currently based in Vienna, Austria, communications staff based in other countries in IFC’s Europe region and with communications colleagues globally. This ETC contract includes some benefits, such as leave, etc.
Role and Responsibilities: • Proactively manage internal and external strategic communications for Ukraine, Moldova, and other countries of the region, as needed, in partnership with other communications colleagues in the region and operational teams. • Elevate the profile of IFC's Regional Vice-President, Regional Director, Country Manager, and project team leads as influential spokespersons and thought leaders in the private sector development space across the region. • Create and distribute various types of communication content (e.g., media packets, news releases, briefing notes, stories, blogs, online and social media content, speeches, etc.) highlighting IFC's activities in the region. • Utilize digital media, including social media, to effectively share IFC's work, strategy, and key messages. • Cultivate relationships with key regional and international journalists, promoting newsworthy IFC content and narratives in local, regional, international publications and digital platforms. • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders including the communications teams of governments and private sector as well as key influencers relevant to IFC’s work. • Identify relevant events to promote IFC’s spokespeople and position the organization. • Work closely with project teams, IFC clients, and IFC’s team in change of managing reputational risks to identify and mitigate reputational risks, enhance stakeholder engagement efforts, and clearly communicate the long- term development impact and IFC’s value-add in high profile projects. • Advise IFC teams on trends, news developments, and geopolitical changes that may impact IFC and its work and help determine strategic responses. • Take on other communications activities across the region and serve as back-up or support to other Europe communications staff as needed
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, Business/Finance with 6 or more years’ experience in corporate communications, international relations, public affairs, political science, or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, a degree in Business Administration and/or working experience in investment operations will be valued. • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English and Ukrainian, ability to convey complex messages succinctly and diplomatically. • Experience in strategic communications and/or journalism and a proven track record of producing high-quality communications materials. • Good understanding of the media landscape and a proven network in Ukraine and Moldova. • Excellent working knowledge of social media platforms and processes in the region with experience in creating and sharing social media content. • Good knowledge of social, political, economic, and business development issues and regional influencers. • Ability to liaise with and manage external multi-media contractors to produce high-quality multi-media products. • Experience in understanding and handling reputation and branding issues and processes, a plus. • Some understanding of IFC and its work and/or an interest in the role the private sector can play in meeting the development challenges in the region would be an advantage. • Ability to work to tight deadlines and juggle multiple tasks. • Strong organizational, research and analytical skills. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal/external partners. • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to work effectively with people at various levels.
