Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations. Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

WBG Finance ITS Unit Context:

ITSFI is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bank’s Financial services, which include Corporate Finance, General Services, Travel, Health Services, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, and Concessional Finance. ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs.

Job Description:

The ITSBG unit within the ITS Finance (ITSFI) is looking for a candidate with strong technical and analytical skills to work with business clients in developing requirements, implementing solutions, prioritizing work based on various business needs, and coordinating with project teams as needed. The ideal candidate should have strong domain knowledge and substantial experience in travel management, with high techno-functional and business analytical skills. They should also be proficient in requirements gathering, gap analysis, impact analysis, QA functions, and review and documentation of systems.

The position is based in Chennai and reports to the ITSBG Team Lead in Chennai. The candidate should be highly motivated and versatile, with attention to detail and effective communication skills with non-technical clients.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

•Supporting WBG Travel management system clients based in Chennai and Washington DC.

•Documenting WBG travel related business processes and workflows, developing and maintaining business process models according to Bank’s institutional methodology.

•Crafting business cases to evaluate the feasibility of technology initiatives.

•Leveraging rapid prototyping approaches to present as-is/to-be processes/workflows and rough designs of the proposed solution.

•Maintaining a comprehensive chronological trail of requirements and agreements and actively contributing to the project change control process. Documenting and managing issues and actions.

•Defining and validating non-functional (technical) requirements and establishing clear traceability with requirements and application architecture/design.

•Creating detailed technical project plans to track technical requirements across distinct functions, utilizing industry best practices, techniques, and standards in project management throughout project life cycle

•Supporting project management-related activities and coordinating tasks for monitoring, collecting, and reporting project status, communications to clients and stakeholders on a periodic basis.

•Providing technical and functional guidance for the team to design, develop, and QA of Travel applications for various lines of business within ITSBG Portfolio.

•Guiding the development team on coding standards application architecture deliverables/artifacts in line with WBG EA reference architecture, guiding principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices.

•Helping the development team to troubleshoot any production issue.

•Planning, organizing, and executing testing comprising of Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, and Regression Testing to integrate new applications into the installed base of existing infrastructure. Overseeing User Acceptance Testing and ensuring that the solution meets the business specifications.

•Working closely with Infrastructure teams e.g., SAP BASIS, Security Administration, Windows teams, etc., to define deployment architecture and capacity planning for any unique environment/Landscape and any critical issue resolution.

•Staying abreast of recent technologies, market trends, experimenting with new tools, and emerging solutions that are in line with the organization’s strategic goals.

•Establishing systems to monitor the operating efficiency of existing application systems and arranging for proactive maintenance.

•Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for successful project execution, as required.

•Quality Assurance: Develops methods, procedures, and quality objectives including metrics for assessing progress. Adheres to quality standards, procedures, and objectives. Reviews modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with standards and SLAs.

•Release Management: Makes modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms, following procedures, completing version control documents, verifying versions, etc.

•Technical Writing: Documents changes to architecture, integration, and conversion plans. Responsible for maintaining system and application architecture diagrams. Ensures all activities are documented.

•Fiduciary Support: Work with Enterprise Architecture (EA) and the Office of Information Security (OIS) accreditation-related activities across GSD Systems for new & existing applications.

•Solution Analysis: Defines customer needs and incorporates them into various design pattern (e.g., swim lane, ER Diagram etc., and overall implementation plan.

•Fostering a culture that is based on knowledge sharing and learning from best practices.

•Exhibiting a high level of professional flexibility and volunteering for innovation and new ideas.

•Experience in end-to-end implementation of large-scale projects that involve the Travel management domain.
