You have:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in Python, Pyspark, Databricks, and cloud platforms like Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions and automating data pipelines.
  • Experience in Working with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, OpenAI models, or enhance solutions with natural language processing (NLP) capabilities.
  • Design and implement prompt engineering strategies to improve model performance and efficiency in business applications.
  • Train, fine-tune, and deploy AI models, analyzing their performance and optimizing them based on feedback and real-world results.
  • Proven ability in metadata management and schema mapping.
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with clients, understanding their requirements, and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cloud certifications (Azure, Google Cloud, or similar) are a plus.

Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 130 client countries. ITS is one of three Vice Presidencies (VPUs) that have been brought together as the World Bank Group Integrated Services (WBGIS), to provide enhanced corporate core services and enable the institution to operate as one strategic and coordinated entity.

ITS’ vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

Unit Context

Operations Effectiveness (ITSEF) Unit delivers data and knowledge solutions that provide business insights to frontline teams and management for improved decision making, transparency, and risk mitigation, while facilitating knowledge capture, curation, and dissemination.

The ITS Operations Effectiveness unit is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Knowledge Platforms team. The position requires a quality-focused and detail-oriented candidate with a demonstrated track record of providing solutions for high-priority business goals and strategic management decisions. The candidate will assume the following responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Design and implement cloud-based solutions using Azure and Google Cloud platforms. Automate data pipelines to facilitate efficient data flow and processing.

•Develop and manage data pipelines using technologies like PySpark and Databricks.

•Ensure the scalability and reliability of data processing workflows.

•Work with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT and OpenAI models to enhance applications with natural language processing (NLP) capabilities.

•Design and implement prompt engineering strategies to optimize model performance in business applications.

•Train, fine-tune, and deploy AI models, analyzing their performance based on real-world results.

•Optimize models using feedback mechanisms to improve efficiency

•Utilize strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

•Pursue relevant cloud certifications (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) to enhance expertise in cloud technologies.

Selection Criteria
