The mission of External and Corporate Relations (ECR) is to help deliver financial and political support for the World Bank Group, strengthen the Bank Group’s role as a global thought leader in development by enhancing and safeguarding its reputation, and supporting operational teams to achieve country outcomes. ECR manages corporate communications and global engagement with key stakeholders, including media, civil society, foundations, private sector, donor countries, and international organizations, as well as employee engagement. ECR also manages strategic communications for the World Bank’s Regions and Global Practices and leads the management of reputation risk.

The World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia (ECA) communications unit is seeking an Extended Term Consultant (ETC) with a strong background in social media, multimedia and digital production to join its team. The consultant will, working as part of a team, be responsible for digital communications and social media outreach in the ECA region, with a focus on advocacy and digital campaigns, senior leadership social media, and content development.

Responsibilities:

The main areas of responsibility are:

Social Media

- Strengthen the region’s social media presence to communicate key development issues to a broad audience, with a focus on helping regional leadership boost visibility for the World Bank’s operational work and its role in benefiting people through its projects and programs. - Produce and oversee an editorial calendar of digital-, multi-, and social media content that aligns with the region’s overall communications strategy; Create high-quality content, both written and visual, for social media channels on a regular basis. - Ensure social media content is unique, aligned to corporate goals, and complements other institutional voices as appropriate, with a focus on content for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. - Monitor external and internal key influencer accounts and identify opportunities to engage/respond appropriately. - In coordination with the ECR Business Intelligence team, establish key performance indicators and produce web and social media metrics reports on a monthly and annual basis.

Multimedia

- Design creative content including graphics, data visualizations, postcards and videos – drawing from World Bank resources at the corporate, regional and country level. - Maintain a database of multimedia content (videos, photos) produced by the Bank, for use across digital and social media channels.

Digital Production

- Publish digital content on the regional website, including speeches, op-eds, feature stories, press releases, and multimedia. - Support the ECREX team with ensuring best-practices in digital content creation and publishing, and helping oversee digital governance for the region.

Other

- Support the ECREX team and the Regional Front Office with other communications tasks, as needed.

Selection Criteria

- Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of experience working on digital communications and social media, preferably in an international setting. Masters Degree preferred. - Full fluency in written English language, with superior writing, editing and proofreading skills. - Experience working directly on professional social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. - Knowledge of social media planning and analytics tools such as Hootsuite and Talkwalker. - Experience with social media marketing, engagement, monitoring and reporting. - Multimedia skills, including experience using Adobe Creative Suite to create images, multimedia and graphics. - High levels of initiative, judgment, and decisiveness in accomplishing tasks; proven ability to work independently; good time-management skills and an eye for detail; ability to work effectively under stress and to juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines. - Ability to work independently on routine tasks and assignments, and willing to seek guidance from supervisors as needed on moderately complex projects/issues. - Ability to ensure that goals are effectively met within established deadlines. - A team player, with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; she/he will have a strong creative drive and innovative mindset. - An understanding of the World Bank’s mission and role, including a general understanding of economic concepts and issues.
