IFC’s DEI Council sets the strategic direction and oversees implementation of multi-year and annual priorities aligned to IFC’s ambition to be a DEI leader amongst multilateral development finance institutions and a role model for its private sector clients.

IFC’s Diversity and Inclusion Council is looking for an ET Consultant to drive communications strategies, content, creative initiatives, and campaigns. This position will have dual reporting lines to IFC’s DEI Program Manager and the head of Internal Engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the DEI communications strategy and its implementation.

• Further develop our overarching communications approach, plan, and tactics aligned with IFC’s mission and our DEI strategic priorities—gender equality, inclusive leadership, and performance management culture. Develop and implement key messages and communications deliverables to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of DEI communication across HQ and country offices, with a specific focus on equity and inclusion.

• Ensure implementation and continuity of DEI’s leadership communications model to deepen and distribute leadership accountability for role modeling DEI behaviors.

• Work with IFC DEI, Internal Engagement, HR, and other communications teams.

• Launch our DEI Vision 2025 internally and externally.

• Continue iCount (self-identification initiative) efforts.

• Communicate about our data analysis, including but not limited to parental leave, nationality, race and race issues.

• Strategize communications efforts to encourage IFC staff to participate in DEI learning initiatives, such as Leaders for Inclusion, Innovation, and Impact.

• Lead content partnerships with other organizations, such as Business Fights Poverty.

• Further develop our external website (www.ifc.org/DEI) and oversee the revamp of our intranet site (ifcdiversity/) to communicate with internal and external stakeholders—e.g., ESG external stakeholders, Recruitment teams, job candidates, people managers, new staff, etc.

Other activities will include but not be limited to:

• Produce DEI content for annual reports. Write and develop content by collaborating with all stakeholders, edit and publish. Annual reports will aim towards data transparency on DEI metrics, especially those used by rating agencies (e.g. MSCI) and will showcase the diversity of the organization, reflect IFC’s efforts to improve DEI, highlighting efforts by all stakeholders, for instance, all ERGs, HR, DEI Council, VPU Advocates, and client focused efforts.

• Use IFC’s internal communication channels to share organization-wide activities and increase staff engagement and trust with leadership.

• Consult with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to develop a customized communications strategy and implementation plan for specific groups of employees, HQ and country offices.

• As needed, draft internal stories, blog posts, messages for the MT in furtherance of DEI outreach.

• Identify and pursue opportunities to position IFC as a leader in the DEI space.

Selection Criteria

• BA or BS degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in communications, media, publishing.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex ideas into easy-to-read text. (Previous experience as a journalist or editor a plus.)

• Experience and understanding of how to design and execute internal and external communication campaigns, including with internal staff engagement.

• Strong understanding of communications designed for outreach and staff engagement efforts.

• Familiarity with the web and interest in technology and multimedia.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Spoken and written fluency in English.
