Duties and Responsibilities BACKGROUND: Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 100 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with UN Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community.

RESPONSIBILITIES The 'Communication, Advocacy and Knowledge Management Section' in Geneva has been tasked to provide technical oversight to all UNDRR public facing websites in line with UNDRR's corporate branding and digital strategy. In order to keep the Drupal platforms up-to-date on latest security patches, new website features and enhancements, and immediately fix critical issues to make the platform stable.

The Drupal Back End Developer will be responsible for the development of new features and enhancements of the Drupal multi-domain platform. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for supporting the UNDRR technical team for the maintenance of UNDRR Drupal platform, relevant software systems and infrastructure improvements. Qualifications/special skills Skills: Able to create/update custom Drupal patches for Drupal core or contributed modules is required. Maintained a production Drupal website(s) by applying security patches for at least 3 months is required. Have background with Solr search server configuration tuning or have works with enterprise search engines (e.g. Enterprise FastESP search) is desirable.

Technical test in the form of online portfolio review.

Academic Qualifications: First level University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of 12 years of working experience as Web Site or Drupal developer for large scale websites is required. Having an Acquia certification is a plus. Experience working with Gutenberg for Drupal is desirable.

Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

ACTIVITIES/Work Assignment 1. Migration of software foundation, PHP to stable version 8.1. A core requirement for Drupal 10 migration. 2. Pilot integration of Gutenberg editor to Drupal multi-domain platform, major activities includes: ¿ A new landing page content type managed using Gutenberg editor; ¿ A Gutenburg editor configuration profile which locks down all unsupported functionality; ¿ A library of Gutenburg blocks, including selected custom blocks, which have been aligned to our style guide, and tested; ¿ Adding new Gutenberg landing page type to Solr search; and, ¿ Basic training for end-users. 3. Search improvements: ¿ Move file/document indexing (Tika) to Solr VMs; ¿ Index landing page content type, including paragraphs; ¿ Add styling for content type label for landing page content type; ¿ Boost terminology content type to ensure they show up as top results for searches where appropriate (excluded: linking specific terminology items to specific search terms); ¿ Add an option for user to sort results by recency instead of relevance. 4. Corrective and preventive maintenance.

OUTPUTS/Deliverables 1. Drupal Platform running on PHP version 8.1, relevant systems and softwares updated as well. 2. A running Gutenburg editor to manage certain content types. 3. Improved search. 4. Application of security patches and updates during the course of the project. 5. Systems improvement for Drupal multi-domain platform.
