Overview

Drive and maintain project office vehicles responsibly and safely

You have:

  • Secondary school education. Possession of valid driving license.
  • Five years of work experience as a driver. Flawless, safe driving record.
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Urdu.
  • National of Pakistan.

Organizational Setting

These positions are located in FAO Offices across Pakistan. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

There are total 50 positions which are located in FAO project offices and sub offices all over Pakistan at following locations; Loralai, Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Nushki, Kharan, Panjgur, Kech, Chaghi, Kalat, Peshawar, Khyber, Kohat / Orakzai, Kurram, Bajaur, Bannu / North Waziristan, DIK / South Waziristan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Thatta, Khairpur, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Sujawal, Tando Mohammad Khan, Badin, Sanghar, Islamabad.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Pakistan and in close coordination with Assistant FAO Representative (Program / Administration) and Admin/ Finance Assistant, the incumbents will be directly supervised by the Provincial Heads in performance of the following functions:

Technical Focus

The incumbents work impacts on the timely and efficient delivery of the immediate work units programme.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Drive the project office staff and their official visitors on official 'trips.
  • Handle local and organizational formalities when involved in an accident; ensure that in this case all organizational and local/country rules, regulations and procedures are followed correctly.
  • Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches, and other communications items from and to the country office; go to the post off airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, institutions, project sites, etc. to take and deliver items and communications; keep records as required.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance and log of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Responsible for safe travel and comfort of passengers
  • When needed, assist the project office staff in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates will be assessed against the following

  • Education: Secondary school education. Possession of valid driving license.
  • Experience: Five years of work experience as a driver. Flawless, safe driving record.
  • Languages: Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Urdu.
  • National of Pakistan
