This is a G-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 2 years of experience, depending on education.

In the 1970s UNICEF established presence in Yemen to respond to the urgent needs of children in the poorest country in the Middle East. In 1991, Yemen ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and it was enacted immediately. Since then the country has been making steady progress for children until it plunged into a brutal conflict in 2015 but even before that, Yemen needed large amounts of humanitarian assistance.

In collaboration with local authorities, non-governmental organizations and community partners, UNICEF is working in all the governorates in Yemen to respond to the needs of children throughout the country with a continuum of services to help children survive and grow to their full potential through the following programmes: Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Basic Education, and Child protection.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the supervisor, you will provide reliable and safe driving services, demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol whilst ensuring compliance with local driving rules and regulations.

As a driver, you demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

To make a difference in the lives of children, your main tasks will be as per the following key functions:

• Reliable and safe driving services for staff and officials
• Maintenance of assigned vehicle
• Documentation of vehicle-related information.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

• A secondary education is required, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required.
• Fluency in Arabic & English is required
