This position is located in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) in Caracas (Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela). Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority, a Driver at this level may be responsible for the following duties: • Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorised personnel. • Makes regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the UN office and other offices and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc. • Makes minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. Collect goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods. • Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required. • Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. • Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean. • Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident. • Applies good judgment in the context of assignments given. • Performs other duties as assigned. ------------------------------------------- Dentro de los límites de la autoridad delegada, el/la Conductor/a en este nivel será responsable de las siguientes funciones: • Conducir vehículos de forma segura y responsable para el transporte de personal autorizado. • Realizar entregas regulares de correspondencia, documentos, valijas y otros artículos entre la oficina de las Naciones Unidas y otras oficinas e instituciones, tales como ministerios, embajadas y misiones permanentes. • Efectuar compras menores y recoger adquisiciones urgentes a proveedores locales, según se solicite. Retirar mercancías de las aduanas, respetando plenamente las normas, reglamentos y formalidades aduaneras aplicables. Podrá efectuar o recoger pagos por los bienes adquiridos. • Recibir al personal oficial en el aeropuerto y facilitar los trámites de inmigración y aduanas, cuando sea necesario. • Tratar con eficacia, discreción y tacto a funcionarios, interlocutores externos y visitantes. • Garantizar el mantenimiento diario de los vehículos asignados, incluyendo la verificación del aceite, agua, batería, frenos, neumáticos, etc.; realizar reparaciones menores cuando corresponda y coordinar reparaciones mayores, asegurando que los vehículos se mantengan en condiciones óptimas de limpieza y funcionamiento. • Mantener registros precisos de los viajes oficiales, el kilometraje diario, el consumo de combustible, los cambios de aceite, el engrase y otros datos pertinentes. • Asegurar que se adopten todas las medidas requeridas por las normas y reglamentos vigentes en caso de verse involucrado/a en un accidente. • Demostrar buen criterio y responsabilidad en la ejecución de las tareas asignadas. • Desempeñar otras funciones conexas que le sean asignadas.

Education
