Overview

Safely transport staff, visitors, and goods while ensuring compliance with policies.

You have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience (preferably with NGOs/UN).
  • Valid South Sudanese driving license (Class B or above).
  • Strong 4x4/off-road driving skills and knowledge of local roads.
  • Basic English and fluency in local languages (Dinka, Arabic).
  • Basic vehicle mechanics and ability to do minor repairs.
  • Training in defensive driving, first aid, or mechanics.
  • Humanitarian/conflict-area experience.
  • Knowledge of HF/VHF radio use.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Casual/Daily Worker Driver to support our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport staff, visitors, and goods to assigned destinations.
  • Follow traffic laws, DRC vehicle SOPs, and safety/security protocols.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and keep logbooks updated.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, documentation, and readiness for field trips.
  • Ensure constant radio communication and report incidents or route changes.
  • Support logistics with errands and other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience (preferably with NGOs/UN).
  • Valid South Sudanese driving license (Class B or above).
  • Strong 4x4/off-road driving skills and knowledge of local roads.
  • Basic English and fluency in local languages (Dinka, Arabic).
  • Basic vehicle mechanics and ability to do minor repairs.

Desirable:

  • Training in defensive driving, first aid, or mechanics.
  • Humanitarian/conflict-area experience.
  • Knowledge of HF/VHF radio use.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure.

Education:

  • Secondary or primary certificate.
  • Mechanical background preferred.
