Overview

You have:

  • Secondary Education with a valid driver's license is required. (Valid General Sudanese Driver's license).
  • Minimum of 2 years (with high school diploma) of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
  • Proven track record of knowledge of driving rules and regulations is required.
  • Knowledge in the use of a radio VHF is highly desired.
  • Experience in minor vehicle repair is a strong asset.
  • Experience working in the UN or other international agency is preferred.
  • Experience of safely driving in mountainous and swampy conditions required.
  • Good knowledge of English and Arabic.

Contract

This is a G-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 2 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be more than 900 USD.

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Sub-office Field coordinator, the work implies frequent interaction with Humanitarian Sectors/Clusters, UN Agencies, International and national NGOs, Government entities and authorities at different level.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provision of reliable and secure driving services:

  • Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by:

a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and

b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.

C) Transport staff for field missions as required.

  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

2.Proper use of vehicle

  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc

3.Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle

  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.

4.Availability of documents/ supplies

  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
