Country Management Unit Context

The World Bank’s GCC Country Department is the principal liaison between the World Bank and the six Arab States of the Gulf Cooperation Council, namely Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The GCC Country Department facilitates the provision of Reimbursable Advisory Services (RAS) from the Bank to the GCC countries, the GCC Secretariat General and GCC affiliated institutions. The GCC Country Department is managed through four offices: a Regional Office in Riyadh, KSA, a Country Office in Kuwait, a Country Office in Abu Dhabi UAE, and an HQ unit in the World Bank HQ in Washington, D.C.

The World Bank is seeking to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the position of Driver in the Saudi Arabia Country Office. The Driver will be based in Riyadh Country Office, will report to the Senior Executive Assistant for the GCC based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Transport Bank staff to desired destinations. Drive office vehicle(s) as requested, with due regard to time schedules, apply knowledge of driving regulations, safety requirements, traffic and conditions, and preferable routes to minimize travel time. - Ensure that highest security standards are applied by passengers as per the Bank Road Safety guidelines and that local regulations are adhered to. - Perform the routine maintenance and cleaning of the assigned vehicle, check gasoline, oil, water, battery, brakes, signal lights, tires, etc.; conduct minor repairs and maintenance. - Take suitable precautions for the security of the vehicle and its contents when left unattended. - Maintain records of trips time and duration, mileage, gasoline consumption, oil changes, and servicing. - Deliver the vehicle to the designated vehicle maintenance location and ensure maintenance execution as requested. - Make minor purchases, collection, and delivery of required goods from local suppliers as needed for the office. - Undertake other assigned tasks requested by or through the Senior Driver.

Selection Criteria

- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record. - A driving experience of at least six years; of which at least two years must be in an international / multinational or Development organizations. - Knowledge of Saudi Arabia driving rules and regulations. - Technically sound in basic maintenance of the vehicle. - Defensive driving skills training would be an advantage – though not a prerequisite. - Linguistic skills in: English and Arabic.
