Job Description

**Background:

Under the supervision of Fleet Officer and with technical support from Supply Chain Manager, Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of the organization daily transportation needs. The Driver will ensure that vehicles are well maintained and equipped with necessary tools. The Driver’ will report to the Fleet Officer for IRC operations in Freetown.

Specific Duties: Ensure that IRC driving policy is followed and always respected. Serves as both a local and long-distance driver of IRC vehicles. Drive safely, showing proper respect to Liberian motor-vehicle laws, pedestrians, other drivers, Liberia police, check point guards and other officers Use the safety seat belt and follow all traffic laws at all times while driving Liaison with Mechanic and Supply Chain (Fleet) department to mechanically maintained Assigned Vehicle Maintain the vehicle in good working condition. Carry out routine maintenance repairs, and inform the Transport department whenever repairs and maintenance work are required (per IRC vehicle policy). Maintaining IRC records and logs of mileage and fuel used by vehicles. Maintaining the vehicle clean and mechanically sound. Ensure that vehicle are fueled before going home at the end of the day Ensure that the vehicle is always cleaned. Immediately report to the Senior Driver, Fleet Officer, and Supply Chain Manager in case of an accident by written report. Police report is required within 48 hours. Ensure that all IRC security rules and procedures are always respected. Work effectively with Program Staff and ably represent the Program during distribution of supplies etc. when required.

Finance/ Budgeting: Ensure vehicle assigned are well maintained according to manufacture instruction, IRC policy and procedures. Instructions are to be from your supervisor in order to keep vehicle’s running cost at an acceptable amount.

Security/Communication: Ensure communication system in the vehicle maintained and repaired to acceptable condition. Ensure clear understanding; logistics policy and security policy vision. To ensure vehicle has updated contact phone number.

Common Duties: Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by your supervisor. Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from Field Coordinator and/or Country Director. To report any violations of the IRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct (LR and World-wide) as per the IRC Worldwide reporting mechanism. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members. To assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by IRC and other humanitarian workers. Carries out other duties as assigned by you supervisor**

Qualifications

Qualifications: Minimum High School Graduate Valid and current Driving License Two Years of Driving Experience with an INGO preferred Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance Who can hear, speak, see clearly and write English
