Org. Setting and Reporting This post is located in the UNODC Regional Center for Combating Cybercrime in Qatar (hereinafter referred to as the Center) as part of the Programme Office in the State of Qatar (POQAT), Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council Region (OGCCR), Regional Section for Africa and the Middle East (RSAME), Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Officer (Operations, Monitoring and Reporting) and the overall guidance of the Programme Coordinator (Chief of Center) and Programme Coordinator heading the Global Programme on Cybercrime and in close coordination with the operations support team for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

Responsibilities Within assigned authority, the Driver will be responsible for the following specific duties: - Drive vehicles safely for the transport of authorised personnel and for the transport of general cargo goods. - Make deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the office and other offices and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc. - Make minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. - Collect goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. - Meet official personnel at the airport and provide transport. - Deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. - Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.; perform minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept clean. - Logs fuel consumption, maintenance etc. for office vehicle. - Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of accident. - Renders first aid in case of accident or medical incident. - Apply good judgment in the context of assignments given. - Undertake minor administrative and office support tasks, such as photocopying, printing, physically setting up conference / training facilities for programme activities etc. - Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. - Assist with visualizations and updating information material. - Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Has knowledge of the area and the current condition of roads and highways, security and safety awareness; familiarity with frequently travelled routes and routines of the more senior staff or the officers. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification Driver training with a valid driver’s license is required.

A current first aid certificate is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record OR no experience for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher is required.

Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorised vehicles and a valid driving license for this category is required.

Experience in dealing with the driving regulations, transportation needs and chauffeur courtesies is desirable.

Experience in administrative, general office support and messenger services is desirable.

Work experience within the United Nations System or similar international organizations is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.

Special Notice This is a project post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds.
