Background

The World Bank Bangkok is looking for a reliable driver to assist the office with all transport-related duties. The driver’s responsibilities include dropping and picking up staff, collecting various packages, and maintaining a travel log to record work hours, travel-time and locations traveled to. Driver should also be able to perform routine checks on the vehicle.

A successful driver for the World Bank should ensure that all transportation duties are carried out in a timely manner. Ultimately, a top-performing driver should be able to ensure that addresses and other transportation details are correct before undertaking any pick-up or drop-off duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The driver reports directly to the Country Manager. Her/his duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Safely transport staff as well as various official documents to and from specified locations in a timely manner. • Ensure all passengers secure safety belts prior to commencing journey. • Assist with the loading and offloading of passengers’ luggage and other belongings. • Keep the vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing regular washing, cleaning and vehicle maintenance. • Ensure all required documentation (e.g. emergency contact information) and required first aid kit are up to date. • Maintain/update log sheets of mileage record including usage of gasoline • Follow safety rules (e.g. speed limits) while driving and abide by related local laws while performing work. • Abide by the Bank's related regulations for reimbursement of eligible expenses for vehicle such as toll fees, gasoline, car washing fees, etc. • Must not use cell phones when driving (including hands free). • May not exceed ten (10) hours driving within a 24 hour period. The non-stop driving time may not exceed 4.5 hours, followed by 45 minute breaks. • Must attend bi-annual defensive driving training. • Must take CPR/First Aid training bi-annually. • Report any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to management. • Assist the team for any other assignments in an effective manner.

Selection Criteria

• Be at least 25 and not over 62 years of age. • Effective communication skills in both Thai and English. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction. • Ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals. • Punctual and reliable. • At least 7 years of work experience as a driver in an international organization with a safe driving record. • Hold a valid driving license • Received a driving training course from the International Organization, especially from United Nation in Bangkok would be preferable. • Good geographical knowledge of Bangkok and metropolitan area. • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in driving. • Able to work early, beyond normal working hours, and during weekends. • Have a good service-mind and be able to deal effectively and patiently with others. • Ability to do minor vehicle repairs.

Medical Requirements: Must be medically fit for driving with acceptable vision as per statutory laws and have no permanent disability which can affect driving. Must be healthy and free from all communicable diseases, as proven by periodical medical exams, by a licensed local practitioner.
