  • Diploma in Auto Mechanics & related fields such as in auto-electricity, auto-mechanics, general mechanics, woodwork, metal work
  • Professional license, and 3rd grade driving license
  • Welding capability (of steel casings and materials)
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working with heavy drilling rigs/machines
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically, up to 90%

Key Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:The Driller is responsible to undertake facilitation and organization of the actual drilling activities of the drilling operation. He/she facilitates mobilization and demobilization of the drilling crews and machineries; undertake the drilling task and report progress of the drilling operation. Supervises the proper setting of the drilling rig, manage the movement of field vehicles, trucks, fuel utilization and petty cash at field level. Plans and facilitates preventive and breakdown maintenance of the drilling rig, compressor and trucks. He/She records penetration rate during drilling operation. He/she ensures proper lithological sampling as directed by the drilling officers. Assist the geophysicist team during geophysical logging. Prepares and submit list of drilling supplies for purchase and other activities assigned. Give technical support for assistant drillers.

Major Responsibility

  • Undertakes the facilitation and organization of the actual drilling activities in collaboration with the Drilling Operations Officer /the assigned Hydrogeologist/; facilitate mobilization and demobilization of the drilling crew and machineries.

  • Undertake drilling tasks at the assigned sites, report timely the progress of the drilling operation; and provide with the necessary information for well completion.

  • Supervise proper setting of the drilling rig and use of proper tools; manage the movement of field vehicles, trucks, fuel utilization and petty cash at a field level to be used for the drilling works.
  • Plan and facilitate the regular service and maintenance of the drilling rig, compressor and trucks along with the chief mechanic or the mechanic driver.
  • Provides lithological samples and other relevant data for casing arrangement and assist the Drilling Operation Officer and geophysicist team during lithological and geophysical logging.
  • Prepares and timely submit list of drilling supplies and other items required to be purchased periodically, as required, and annually.
  • Give the transportation service for the drilling crew by driving light vehicle of the drilling team.
  • Trains and guide the assistant drillers.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Diploma in Auto Mechanics & related fields such as in auto-electricity, auto-mechanics, general mechanics, woodwork, metal work
  • Professional license, and 3rd grade driving license.
  • Welding capability (of steel casings and materials)

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working with heavy drilling rigs/machines.

Travel and/or Work

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically, up to 90%.
