Overview

Enhance donor intelligence for effective fundraising activities.

You have:

  • University degree in International Development, International Economics, Diplomacy, Development Studies, or any other related social science courses.
  • A master's degree with no experience will be accepted in lieu of the bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years experience in donor relations and fundraising for sustainable development is required.
  • Proven experience in partner engagements is desirable.
  • Experience in planning for and organizing events at international platforms is desirable.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.

Result of Service

Enhance donor intelligence that support to organization’s fundraising activities and donor meetings; empower the project teams of the organization by providing useful and timely information about suitable funding opportunities; enable informed executive decisions and donor targeting strategies by providing comprehensive analysis of acquisition trends and project pipelines; strengthen the resource mobilization strategy in support to the organization’s new strategic plan, particularly the private sector engagement strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. The Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit of UN-Habitat is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors and mobilizing resources for the organization's projects and programmes. The Unit works closely with other units within UN- Habitat to ensure effective and efficient utilization of donor resources. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit the consultant will: 1. Conduct research on potential donors and partners for engagement in all forms to inform resource mobilization strategies and entry points for collaboration with potential donors and strategies partners. 2. Update donor profiles and distribute them by request in a timely manner. 3. Develop donor profile management and presentation system, funding opportunity radar and other digital and information products facilitating the tracking of donor intelligence and funding opportunities. 4. Analyze UN-Habitat’s acquisition trends and project pipelines to identify opportunities and risks in resource mobilization, providing recommendations for donor targeting and related action plans. 5. Contribute to outreach activities targeting potential and existing donors, including preparing talking points and slides for colleagues. 6. Conduct research to identify key potential donors and partners for engagement in activities and events, with a focus on foundations, philanthropies and business.

Qualifications/special skills
