Contract

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 194,686 USD and 243,986 USD.

The Position:

The position of Donor Relations and Resource Mobilization Adviser, sits in the Resource Mobilization Branch (RMB), Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS), responsible for overseeing and guiding UNFPA Supplies programme’s efforts to coordinate the relationships with the programme’s donors and build the partnerships needed to ensure sustained and expanded funding and financing needed to implement the programme and subsequently to deliver UNFPA’s mandate. The position benefits from being seated in RMB integrating programme-related donor engagement with corporate resource mobilization strategies, donor relations and strategic communications. The position reports to the Chief of the RM Branch with a direct working relationship with the Supplies Partnership Programme Leader. How you can make a difference:

Job Purpose:

UNFPA Supplies – a multilateral, multi-donor, UNFPA-managed thematic trust fund –is the world’s largest provider of donated contraceptives. The programme provides over 40 percent of all contraceptives donated to developing countries and helps strengthen health systems to deliver them. Since its inception in 2007, the programme has mobilized over US$1 billion to support national action to expand access to family planning for millions of the world’s poorest women and girls. UNFPA Supplies is uniquely positioned to support countries in their efforts to ensure universal health coverage (UHC), helping to build stronger, integrated health systems that will ensure access to and use of rights-based family planning services, contraceptives, and maternal health medicines.

UNFPA Supplies is governed through a tiered committee structure made up of key programme stakeholders and donors that provides strategic direction and management oversight. A Steering Committee approves programme strategy and key documents based on recommendations from three targeted sub-committees with deeper engagement and subject-matter expertise on finance & risk, strategy & planning, and human resources. Broader stakeholder input and engagement is achieved through annual Partner Assembly meetings.

The Donor Relations and Resource Mobilization Adviser will apply an integrated approach to building opportunities with key existing and emerging donors, and in providing strategic guidance to the UNFPA Supplies programme to navigate an increasingly diverse public sector partnership environment. S/he will also build close relationships with the programme’s stakeholders including the Steering Committee Chairperson; and will provide strategic guidance to amplify messaging through different channels including the UNFPA Supplies Partner’s Assemble to secure greater investment in family planning.

Education:

Advanced university degree with specialization in business administration, (financial) management, public administration or a related subject in the international development field.

Knowledge and Experience:

● At least 10 years of relevant progressively responsible international professional experience, including at the country and regional level, preferably with previous experience/exposure to the UN sustainable development system, UN operational activities, policies, and UN funding instruments; ● Good analytical skills, including financial data analysis and projections; ● Good written and oral communication skills; ● Proven experience with partnership building, management and financial reporting; ● Proven familiarity with UN Reforms, in particular as they relate to policy, funding and financing for development and humanitarian activities, ● Ability to successfully execute fund portfolio management and coordination functions; ● Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships both within and outside the organization.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is highly desirable for this role as interface with bilateral and multilateral partners
