Duties and Responsibilities The individual contractor will support the substantive staff and the documentation team in charge of preparing the in-session documents for the sessions of Committee I, Committee II and of the plenary sessions of the 19th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP19); prepare draft records of sessions of the meeting into English; and edit and review parliamentary documents, including complex or politically sensitive material, normally without revision, to ensure accuracy, clarity, cohesion and conformity with United Nations standards, policy and practice.

UN, UNEP and CITES terminology must be respected and coherency in the vocabulary used must be maintained. Verification of terminology and accuracy of quotations reproduced are responsibility of the report writer. In case of text ambiguity, the report writer should contract the officer requesting the work for clarification, preferably by email. The report writer will use the official documents of the CITES, UNEP and UN as reference sources. These documents are published in the following websites www.cites.org (CITES), www.unep.org (UNEP) and www.un.org (UN).

Qualifications/special skills a) Required years of work experience: At least 4 years at the national level, or 2 years at the international level, in a post requiring report writing, editing or document management, preferably in a field related to environment, sustainable development or international trade. Past experience with CITES is an asset. . The consultant should have editing and writing skills and experience, and be used to paying great attention to details and accuracy. Knowledge of terminology used in the UN, UNEP and the CITES Secretariat.
