Duties and Responsibilities

__________________________________________________________________________________ DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The post is located in the Facilities Management Section, at the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). Under the supervision of the Electronic Technician in Electrical Unit, the Broadcast and conference Special System Operator will be responsible for the following functions but not limited to: I. To operate the conference system equipment: - Set up a conference system before a conference according to the request of clients; - Check all system equipment for proper operation in a conference room before & after a meeting; - Run conferences technically as smoothly as possible; - Record and edit audio and video materials, using audio video recording and editing Equipment’s/Software. - Operate electronic equipment to record, edit, and transmit audio and video contents from the conference rooms. - Adjust conference room, monitors, video conferencing, or power point presentations. - Monitor incoming and outgoing video and sound feeds from conference rooms to ensure the quality and proper functionality of the system. - Compress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio and video recording data. - Obtain, set up, and load CD/DVD discs for scheduled productions or presentations - Maintain inventories of CD/DVD discs and related supplies - Notify supervisors when major equipment repairs are needed II. To perform the maintenance of conference equipment: - Assist in the analysis of faults on sophisticated electronic equipment's including video and film projectors - Maintains and repairs video and audio monitors, television sets, CD players, audio mixers, amplifiers etc. - Checks daily the MATV head end room equipment's to ensure that proper functionality of the system is in place. - Makes minor adjustments and repairs to various audio visual equipment's and reports to the Electronics technician immediately when correction of major malfunction is required - Installs Audio/video cables, and connects equipment, such as displays, TV sets, microphones, RF amplifiers etc. - Perform other related duties as and when requested by the supervisor III. Provide support to clients related to conference equipment: - To be always prepared for better client satisfaction; - Explain and show to clients how to use the systems to their satisfaction; - To be always ready to assist clients during conferences to their technical needs which may arise at any time; - To liaise with immediate supervisors for clients’ needs as quickly as possible; IV. The work varies from steady 40-hour work weeks to having to work overtime, evening, weekend and holiday shifts, depending on contractual agreement.

Qualifications/special skills

High school completion is required. Experience on Audio-Video and conference support is required

Fluency in English is required.
