You have:

- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 and experience in adapting content for diverse audiences including persons with disabilities.
- Experience collaborating with OPDs or disability rights networks is highly desirable.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Contract
This is a UNV Community Volunteer contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV Community Volunteer contracts.
This UN Volunteer assignment supports the UNRCO Uzbekistan’s strategic efforts to strengthen disability-inclusive public engagement and communications. The selected candidate will work closely with the UN Communications Group, OPDs, and civil society to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities and ensure that UNCT’s communication outputs and visibility campaigns are inclusive, accessible, and reflective of disability rights principles.
The assignment can be performed remotely upon agreement with the selected candidate.
Assignment Place Remarks: This assignment is part of UNV’s disability inclusion strategy. UNV seeks to 1) provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to serve as UN Volunteers 2) enable UN partners to expand diversity and inclusion of persons with disabilities in their workforce worldwide 3) build a talent pipeline of qualified professionals with disabilities who can contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and global levels, with focus on national capacity.
The Host Office is in charge of funding and putting in place necessary reasonable accommodation measures that may be required.
Reasonable Accommodation The UN system is committed to creating an inclusive workplace and commits to taking appropriate measures to enable persons with disabilities to access employment opportunities and benefit equally from employment-related opportunities by providing reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodation may differ depending on the disability and individual requirements. Accessibility Accessibility is defined as the “identification and elimination of obstacles and barriers to facilitating access, on an equal basis with others, to the physical environment, to transportation, to information and communications, including information and communications technologies and systems, and to other facilities” (Article 9, UN CRPD).
The UNRCO office in Tashkent provides step-free access and barrier-free entry points. Accessibility assessments are ongoing in line with UNV and UNRCO disability inclusion strategies. Additional measures, including the provision of accessible formats, adaptive equipment, or communication supports, will be implemented in consultation with the selected UN Volunteer.
Under the supervision of the RCO Team Leader and in collaboration with the Public Information Officer, the UN Volunteer will:
Digital and Accessible Content Development • Create accessible, inclusive visual materials (infographics, banners, templates) using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and AI-based platforms. • Design engaging and inclusive social media content aligned with UN campaigns, UN Days, and the UN’s 80th Anniversary. • Develop bilingual or trilingual content (Uzbek/Russian/English) for UN social media accounts.
Inclusive Outreach and Campaign Coordination • Co-lead public awareness campaigns with OPDs and CSOs. • Plan and support the organization of accessible events, including content production, digital invitations, and feedback tools.
Inclusive Volunteerism Campaign (Linked to UNV) • Initiate and co-design a public engagement activity (such as a virtual event or digital campaign) to highlight inclusive volunteerism, ideally aligned with the UN’s 80th Anniversary, International Volunteer Day (IVD), or other relevant UN milestones.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are expected to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications, Actively participate in UNV activities, including those marking International Volunteer Day (IVD), • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them to the UNV Field Unit/Regional Office/HQ for inclusion in newsletters, press releases, etc., • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
