Context and Purpose of the Consultancy:

The purpose of this full-time consultancy is to ensure all deliverables within UNICEF Supply Division’s disability portfolio are met including the coordination of the UNICEF app catalogue, development of a research package on hygiene products, develop knowledge base for inclusive play and drive the assistive technology advocates network. The consultant will work closely with the Innovation Specialist (Disability) as part of the Emerging Challenges unit in the Product Innovation Centre. This role requires a specialist consultant with hands-on practical experience of working with children with disabilities to ensure user needs are considered throughout the portfolio.

Key Tasks

  1. Coordinate and support the UNICEF App Catalogue
  2. Drive and grow the AT advocates network
  3. Assist in the coordination and execution of the WHO-UNICEF collaboration portfolio Assistive Technology
  4. Develop research package on “Hygiene/Incontinence products”
  5. Build a knowledge base on “inclusive play”. This includes both inclusive playgrounds as well as AT4ECD

Help manage AT2030 programme deliverables (including workshop planning and coordination for people with disabilities in UNICEF country programmes).

Deliverables:

1) Coordinate and support the launch and operation of the UNICEF App Catalogue (20%)

  • Support the continued development of the catalogue
  • Coordinate interest from external parties
  • Create database for apps
  • Assist the project management of the App Catalogue project
  • Drive awareness raising for the UNICEF App Catalogue

2) Drive and grow AT advocates network (10%)

  • Arrange and coordinate relevant webinars (approx. 4 per year)
  • Build communication and dissemination strategy to build the network

3) UNICEF-WHO disability collaboration portfolio coordination (20%)

  • Ensure coordination between departments
  • Track deliverables and manage common action plan
  • Coordinate taskforce meetings and related deliverables

4) Product Innovation Project research (20%)

  • Research on potential new product innovation projects
  • Research and analysis on existing potential projects, such as hygiene/incontinence products
  • Data gathering and analysis on potential new projects

5) Build a knowledge base within “inclusive play”(10%)

  • Collect and compile previous UNICEF experience within inclusive playgrounds
  • Research good practice within inclusive play
  • Work to further AT4ECD
  • Support new UNICEF initiatives within inclusive play as the arise

6) Manage in AT2030 activities (20%)

  • Support in execution of all AT2030 deliverables
  • Coordinate and plan Jordan physical workshop in procurement of AT Q1 2022
  • Assist in ensuring catalogue inclusion of priority assistive technologies.

Requirements:

Academic:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field

Professional Experience:

  • Three years of professional experience is required.
  • Two years experience working with children with disabilities is required
  • Knowledge of UNICEFs Assistive Technology portfolio is an advantage

  • Experience and understanding of children with disabilities and special needs
  • Experience and understanding of assistive technology
  • Knowledge of the context in which UNICEF operates
